Michael Drews

Michael Drews CPA, RIA

Michael Drews started his accounting career in 1995 after receiving a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from Simon Fraser University. During the first part of his career he worked for several mid-sized regional firms most notably Bartlett Pringle and Wolfe in Santa Barbara. After obtaining his CPA license Michael left public accounting and joined a technology company in Carpinteria where he worked as the Chief Financial Officer. The company grew and eventually employed over 500 employees. It was the desire to be self-employed that led Michael to move to Camarillo from Santa Barbara and open his own firm in 2004. From the beginning, Michael’s primary focus has been on serving and providing tax services to individuals and small businesses. In 2012 Michael expanded his practice and joined HDVest as a financial investment advisor after obtaining his securities license series 6 and series 7. He has continued to develop his financial expertise and business around providing financial and retirement planning services along with tax advice. He enjoys the outdoors, watching and playing sports, especially ice hockey. Michael has served on the boards of numerous Camarillo organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, City of Camarillo, Rotary Club, CSUCI Financial Liaison and various Church Councils. He currently serves on the Executive Board of The Camarillo Ranch Foundation. He is married to Amy for the past 20 years and has two teenaged children, Amanda and Derek.

Julie Robinson

Julie Robinson, CPA

Julie Robinson was raised in Camarillo and graduated Camarillo High School and earned her bachelor’s degree at California Lutheran University while interning at the Internal Revenue Service. She went on to work at the KPMG accounting firm in the downtown Los Angeles office where she earned her CPA license in 1991. After working several years as a controller and CFO of various Ventura County businesses, she partnered with Richard Morrisset, CPA in 2005. She joined Michael Drews CPA when he purchased the firm of Morrisset and Robinson, CPAs in 2015. She is married to her husband Robert for 27 years and they have two daughters.

Dawn Kozlowski

Dawn Kozlowski
Office Manager

Whether by phone or in-person, Dawn is usually the first point of contact for our clients. She has been Office Manager at the firm for 7 years and considers client service her first priority. A Quickbooks expert, Dawn is always available to help clients solve problems and maximize the use of their software. Often teased by her co-workers for keeping “banker’s hours”, she is quick to point out that she starts each day with a 5K power walk and an hour at the gym. Married for 34 years, she enjoys traveling to visit her adult children in Seattle and Nashville, and is an avid concert-goer. She is also a volunteer usher at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Robyn Tepesano

Robyn Tepesano
Staff Accountant

Robyn Tepesano was raised in Camarillo and attended Camarillo High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Cal State University Northridge, while working at John O.R. Johnson, CPA. She continued to work alongside John for 22 years until his retirement. She is married to Freddy, and together they are raising their daughter. She enjoys supporting her daughter in her many activities, as well as spending time with her family.

Savannah Thompson

Savannah Thompson
Staff Accountant

Savannah Thompson was born and raised in Ventura County and graduated from Hueneme High School. She has earned her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration at Santa Barbara Business College and is currently completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting at American Public University. In her spare time she loves helping her husband with his screen printing business and clothing company while making sure to spend quality time together along with their dog.
